Residential plumbing
Finding a plumber isn't hard. Finding one who turns up when they said, quotes before they start, does the job properly and leaves the place clean is the actual challenge, and it's why most of our work comes from people who were told about us by a neighbour. This page covers everything we do in Gold Coast homes, from a dripping tap to a full bathroom renovation, what it costs, and what dealing with us is like.
Walter & Co is a family-run, licensed plumber and gas fitter based at Rosswood Court in Helensvale. Ben has more than 20 years on the tools, the business has over a thousand jobs behind it and a 5.0 Google rating from Gold Coast locals. We answer the phone 24/7 for emergencies, and for everything else we book a time and keep it.
What you get
What you get when you call Walter & Co
A real answer on the phone. Not a call centre. You'll speak to someone who can tell you whether it's an emergency and roughly what's involved.
A heads-up before we arrive, and updates through to the finished job.
A written quote before we start. No call-out surprises, no "it turned into a bigger job" invoices.
Licensed plumbing and gas work, fully insured, done to code and certified where it needs to be.
A clean site. Drop sheets down, boots off where you want them off, everything packed up and wiped down before we leave.
Fixed right the first time, with quality fittings that pass inspection and don't need us back in six months.
What we fix
Home plumbing services we do

Taps, toilets and mixers
Dripping taps, leaking mixers, running toilets, cracked cisterns, loose toilet pans, new tapware and new toilet suites. A running toilet can waste hundreds of litres a day, and a dripping tap is usually a ten-minute fix that saves you a slow build-up of water damage under the sink.

Burst pipes and emergency repairs
Burst pipes, flooding, no water, sewage backing up, gas smells. We're on call 24/7 and aim to be there within a couple of hours. First thing to do: find your main stop tap at the meter and turn it off, then call. If you can't see where the water's coming from, our leak detection gear finds it without ripping walls open.

Bathroom, kitchen and laundry renovations
Full plumbing for renovations: rough-in for new layouts, moving drainage and water points, floor wastes, shower and bath installation, tempering valves, connecting all the new fixtures at fit-off, and a compliance certificate at the end. We work alongside your builder, tiler and cabinetmaker, or manage the plumbing side directly for a DIY-managed reno.

Water pressure, filters and tempering
Low pressure diagnosed and fixed, pressure limiting valves installed or replaced, whole-house water filters, rainwater tank connections and pumps, and tempering valves to keep bathroom water at a safe 50°C. Gold Coast mains pressure varies a lot between suburbs and elevation, and plenty of homes have a failed pressure limiting valve they don't know about.

Sewer, stormwater and drainage
Blocked sewers, cracked or root-damaged pipes, overflow relief gullies, stormwater lines and pits, and soggy-yard subsoil drainage. Camera and jetter on every van. Full detail on our blocked drains and subsoil drainage pages.

Hot water, gas and appliances
Hot water repair and same-day replacement, gas cooktops and ovens, LPG bottles and changeovers, BBQ points, dishwashers, fridge water lines and washing machine taps. We hold the gas licence, so it's one trade for everything. See hot water systems and gas fitting.

Got a list of jobs?
Give us the lot at the start and we'll quote the whole thing.
A typical week
The jobs we do most often
To give you a feel for the everyday work, this is roughly what a typical week looks like for the team across the Coast:
- Two or three hot water replacements, usually electric storage units that have started leaking
- A handful of tap and mixer repairs and replacements, often bundled with a new toilet or flexi hose swap
- A couple of blocked drains, usually a main line with roots or a kitchen line with grease
- A burst pipe or slab leak that came in on the emergency line
- Rough-in or fit-off on a bathroom renovation
- A gas cooktop connection or LPG changeover
- A subsoil drainage install for a yard that's been soggy since the last storm
None of it is exotic. What makes the difference is that every one of those jobs is quoted first, done properly and left clean, and that's the whole reason the phone keeps ringing.
Pricing
What a plumber costs on the Gold Coast
Every job's quoted, but this is the shape of it.
| Job | What affects the price |
|---|---|
| Tap, toilet or mixer repair | Whether it's a service or a replacement, and the tapware you choose |
| Burst pipe or emergency | Time of day, access, and whether the pipe is exposed or in a wall or slab |
| Blocked drain | Single fixture vs main line, whether the camera and jetter are needed |
| Hot water replacement | System type and size, any change of location or fuel |
| Bathroom renovation plumbing | Whether fixtures stay in place or move, floor waste and drainage changes |
| Gas appliance connection | Existing point or new line, mains or LPG |
Two things are always true: we quote before we start, and there's no surcharge for the "while you're here" jobs. If you've got a list, give it to us at the start and we'll price it all.

Renovations
How a bathroom renovation is staged
| Stage | Who | What the plumber does |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Demolition | Builder / you | Disconnect and cap all fixtures safely |
| 2. Rough-in | Plumber | New drainage, water points, floor waste, tempering valve, pressure test |
| 3. Waterproofing and tiling | Waterproofer / tiler | Nothing, but this is when the rough-in must be right, because nothing moves after this |
| 4. Fit-off | Plumber | Install toilet, vanity, shower, bath, tapware; connect everything; test |
| 5. Certification | Plumber | Compliance certificate, Form 4 lodged |
The rough-in stage is where renovations go wrong. Moving a toilet 300mm, or a shower drain to the other corner, is easy on paper and a very different job through a slab. Get us in before the tiler, not after.

On the day
What to expect on the day
You'll get a text or call when we're on the way. We'll look at the job, explain what's going on in plain English, and give you a written quote before anything's touched. If the job's small, we'll usually do it there and then. If it's bigger, we'll agree a time. While we work we use drop sheets, keep the water or gas off for as short a time as we can, and let you know before we shut anything down. At the end we test everything in front of you, show you what was done, clean up, and leave you the paperwork if the job needed certification. If anything isn't right afterwards, you call us and we come back. That's it.
Quote first. Work second. Every time.

Worth knowing
Ten things every Gold Coast homeowner should know
- Where your main water stop tap is. It's at the meter at the front boundary.
- Where your gas isolation is: the meter or the bottle valve.
- Where your overflow relief gully is, and to keep it clear.
- That "flushable" wipes aren't.
- That braided flexi hoses under sinks and toilets should be replaced every five years.
- That the compliance plate on your hot water unit shows its age.
- That summer storms are when stormwater, gutters and drainage get tested, so clear them in October.
- That a running toilet can add hundreds of dollars to a water bill.
- That gas work needs a gas licence, and you should ask for the number.
- That a written quote before the work starts is normal. Anyone who won't give you one isn't the plumber you want.

Where we work
Serving homes across the Gold Coast
We're based in Helensvale and cover the whole Coast, from Coomera and Pimpama down to Coolangatta. A lot of our home work is in the northern estates around Helensvale, Hope Island, Pacific Pines, Oxenford and Upper Coomera, where we're close enough to be there fast. We're regularly through Southport, Labrador and Runaway Bay for the older homes that need pipe and hot water replacements, and across Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, Robina and Burleigh Heads for renovations and emergencies.
If you've been searching for a plumber near me, a plumber in Helensvale or the best plumber Helensvale locals actually recommend, read the reviews on the home page. They're from real jobs, and the people who wrote them are the reason we're still growing.
